Dr. Emily Ambizas is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the Department of Clinical Health Professions at the St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Queens, New York. She is a double alumna of St. John’s University, having received her BS in Pharmacy in 2000 and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2002. Following graduation, Dr. Ambizas completed a residency in pharmacy practice at the Veterans Administration New York Harbor Healthcare System. She earned a Master’s in Public Health degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2014. Since 2003, Dr. Ambizas has been a full-time faculty member at St. John’s University, teaching and conducting scholarly work concentrating in the area of self-care and the use of nonprescription drugs and language access services in pharmacy. As part of her academic appointment, she serves as a Clinical Specialist at Rite Aid Pharmacy, now Walgreens Pharmacy, in Whitestone, New York.

Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:

1. Review prescribing information, mechanism of action, and safety profiles for determining the most appropriate antiviral therapy for a patient with influenza
2. Discuss approaches to effectively educate and counsel patients and providers about influenza treatment options
