LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify risk factors for thromboembolism (VTE) in hospitalized medically ill patients, as well as continued risk and the benefit of VTE thromboprophylaxis in patients post discharge
  • Discuss recommendations for appropriate extended thromboprophylaxis and methods for implementing recommendations and effectively counseling patients during transitions of care
