To educate pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on hypercholesterolemia and treatment approaches for optimal patient outcomes.
Upon completion of this educational activity, participant should be better able to:
- Review evidence from meta-analyses and clinical trials demonstrating the clinical benefits of LDL-C lowering medications in patients with hypercholesterolemia
- Review the treatment approaches recommended in the 2018 AHA/ACC/Multisociety cholesterol guideline to patients with hypercholesterolemia
- Recall the evidence and role in therapy of nonstatin medications in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia
- List newer and emerging LDL-C lowering nonstatin medications by describing their mechanism of action, efficacy and role in therapy
