Goal

To provide pharmacists with comprehensive education on the early utilization of GLP-1 RAs, including increased knowledge about key barriers to utilization to improve patient access, strategies for managing glycemic and non-glycemic outcomes with GLP-1 RAs, appropriate switching and dosing protocols, adverse event mitigation and management, and educating patients on treatment expectations and goals to improve patient care and outcomes.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:

  • Evaluate recent clinical trial data regarding GLP-1 RA use in patients with type 2 diabetes for both glycemic and non-glycemic outcomes
  • Recognize updated guideline recommendations regarding the use of GLP-1 RAs in patients with type 2 diabetes and their optimal place in therapy
  • Identify appropriate candidates for GLP-1 RA therapy based on comorbidities, ASCVD risk, glycemic control, contraindications to therapy, and patient preferences for care
